バーチャルYouTube（VTuber）のキズナアイは4日、自身のYouTube Liveにて、2022年2月26日にオンラインで開催するライブ「Kizuna AI The Last Live “hello,world 2022”」を最後に活動を無期限で休止すると発表した。理由については、「キズナアイがより成長していくことを目標としたアップデートをするため」としている。
現状、彼女とサポートチームで準備を進めているいくつかのプロジェクトが残っており、両者で方針を協議したうえで、今後もキズナアイの願いである「世界中のみんなと、あなたとつながりたい」の実現に向けてプロジェクトを継続していくとのこと。詳細は後日発表する。
YouTubeチャンネルの「A.I.Channel」と「A.I.Games」について、アーカイブ動画は公開し続ける。メンバーシップは新規更新はないものの、過去のコンテンツを視聴できるようにこちらも継続していく。Twitter、Instagram、TikTok、Facebook、bilibili、WeiboといったSNSアカウントについても残す。更新は無期限の休止となるが、重要なお知らせがあった場合に更新する。
キズナアイは2016年12月より活動をスタートし、「バーチャルYouTuber」という言葉を名乗ったジャンルの草分け的存在。2017年末〜2018年に起こったVTuberムーブメントにも後押しされ、「四天王」と呼ばれるトップ集団として、テレビやCM、イベントなどへの出演など、ネットを飛び出してバーチャルタレントとして活動の幅を広げてきた。
音楽方面でも「Kizuna AI」として、W&W ft. Kizuna AIの「The Light」、中田ヤスタカとの「AIAIAI feat. 中田ヤスタカ」など数多くのオリジナル曲をリリース。ワンマンライブのほか、「SUMMER SONIC 2019」など数多くのライブにも招聘されてきた。
